 "AAP in field to change definition of politics, says Yogendra Yadav")
The AAP has entered the poll arena not to win more seats, but to change the definition of politics. Hence, winning or losing this election is not of much relevance for the AAP, said the party’s national executive member Yogendra Yadav.
Addressing reporters here on Monday Yadav said the 2014 Lok Sabha election is just a step in the long journey of its political career and it may require another five years for the party to become a deciding factor in eight to 10 states.
Yadav said, the AAP had been floated to give rise to new-age politics and make country corruption-free. “The AAP thr- ough its constant struggle is enlightening the people to root out corruption. However, this party emerged as a popular political party in Delhi due to its ideologies and people-centric principles,” Yadav said.
He asserted: “Taking cue from the AAP today, major parties, namely Congress, BJP, NCP and others are speaking of making India a corruption-free nation and we deem it a victory for the AAP. Many major parties had to change their candidates as they were harping on corruption as the main issue after the AAP started talking about rooting out corruption.”
He said, the people were fed-up with the false assurance given by the khadi-clad politicians and their anguish will be reflected in the results of the LS polls.
Yadav felt it was a tragedy that the people in India were to choose between Rahul Gandhi and Narendra Modi for the post of prime minister. “If Rahul is elected to power, it will pave way for dynastic rule and electing Modi would lead to dictatorship” he added.
However, people still have a chance to change the political scenario of the country by rejecting both the candidates and choose new-age leaders who are fighting for the common man’s cause, he said.
Answering a query, Yadav said, Modi’s model of development does not benefit the last man standing in the society, while the Congress has been using Muslims as their vote bank and has made them vulnerable. Hence, to ensure inclusive growth of the society and see that people of all classes are benefitted, there is a need to bring in change, he added.
On the future move by the AAP, Yadav said, soon after the Lok Sabha polls, the AAP will target Maharastra and Haryana which are going for Assembly polls.
Ex-VC, ex-Army officer join AAP
AAP has received a shot in the arm in Mysore with a former vice-chancellor and a retired major general joining its fold. J A K Tareen, former Vice-Chancellor of B S Abdur Rahman University of Science and Technology, Chennai. and Maj Gen (retd) Krishnamurthy have joined the AAP, Mysore unit, AAP media coordinator G R Vidyaranya has said.
A Padma Shree awardee, Tareen, who was vice-chancellor of two other universities too, joined the road show of candidate M V Padmamma and wished her good luck, he said.
Maj Gen (retd) Krishnamurthy joined AAP officially along with Capt (retd) M A Hussain and campaigned for Padmamma in N R Assembly constituency area.
