33% turnout in seven seats in Bihar till 12 noon

There was some reports of minor friction between electors and officials over missing names in voters lists

Voter turnout of 33% was recorded till 12 noon in seven Lok Sabha seats of Bihar in the fourth phase of elections in the state.

A total of 36% polling was recorded at Madhepura constituency where JD(U) President Sharad Yadav is contesting.

Madhubani witnessed 31%, Jhanjharpur 30%, Darbhanga 31%, Samastipur 28%, Begusarai 36% and Khagaria 34.59% till 12 noon, an Election Commission statement said here.

In Darbhanga, a car of BJP candidate Kirti Azad was seized in Benipur by the district administration for travelling in a convoy without permission.

Azad visited a temple of Goddess Kali with wife Poonam Jha.

BJP candidate from Begusarai Bhola Singh stood in the queue to vote.

A 104-year-old man was assisted by his family to a booth in Madhubani for casting his vote. He told reporters that he was happy to fulfil his commitment to democracy and urged young people to vote.

There was some reports of minor friction between electors and officials over missing names in voters lists.

A bypoll is also being held in Sahebpur Kamal Assembly seat following the resignation of former minister Parveen Amanullah's from the Nitish Kumar Cabinet.

A total of 31% voting was recorded in the bypoll till 12 noon.
