Dayanidhi Maran files nomination, declares Rs 10.94 cr assets

Maran is now seeking a third term from the central Chennai constituency

DMK leader and former Union Minister for Communications Dayanidhi Maran today filed his nomination for Lok Sabha polls and declared assets worth Rs 10.94 crore which is two times more than the Rs 3.66 crore that he declared in the 2009 general elections.

Maran, sitting MP from Central Chennai constituency has movable assets of Rs 2,58,64,419 in his name,Rs1,76,92,969 in his wife Priya's name and Rs 3,53,26,991 and Rs 3,05,44,794 in the names of his children Divya and Karan respectively.

He has shares in Reliance Industries, Reliance Communications and Reliance Infrastructure. He has gym and musical equipment worth Rs 27 lakh. He also owns a Toyota Fortuner car valued at Rs 13.50 lakh. His wife has 1745 grams of gold jewellery besides silver articles totally valued at Rs 97.75 lakh.

Interestingly, neither the 47-year-old DMK leader, nor his spouse or children have any immovable assets. Even in the 2009 elections, he declared zero immovable asset. Similarly, he has no liabilities as in 2009.

Maran made his political debut after the death of his father Murasoli Maran. He won his debut 2004 Lok Sabha polls by contesting from the Central Chennai Parliamentary seat. He is now seeking a third term from the same constituency.

His father Murasoli Maran has also been successfully elected thrice from the Central Chennai.
