Modi would most probably campaign at Chennai, Virudhunagar and Salem as the BJP leadership is yet to finalise his itinerary in the state, party sources said. BJP’s alliance partners like MDMK and DMDK are also putting pressure on the party to allow Modi visit their key constituencies, they said.
MDMK general secretary Vaiko is contesting from Virudhunagar and DMDK chief Vijayakanth’s brother-in-law Sudhish is testing his electoral fortunes from Salem. Senior BJP leaders like LK Advani, Nitin Gadkari and Venkaiah Naidu are scheduled to campaign for the party’s national executive member and south Chennai candidate L Ganesan.
The state unit wants Modi to address a rally in Chennai, the sources said. BJP’s candidate from Coimbatore and former state unit president CP Radhakrishnan is trying his level best to urge the party leadership to bring Modi here for campaigning, they said.
