Congress and NCP leaders are keeping their fingers crossed over the future of alliance in Goa even though both the parties have already announced their nominees for two seats the state sends to Lok Sabha.

Congress and NCP have been contesting elections in the coastal state in alliance. However, both the parties have already announced their candidates for North Goa and South Goa seats.

Congress has announced candidature of Ravi Naik and Alex Reginaldo Lourenco from North Goa and South Goa, respectively, whereas NCP has fielded its state unit chief Nilkant Halarnkar and Yuri Alemao from these seats.

NCP leaders who were pressing for the North Goa seat have rushed to New Delhi to meet party president Sharad Pawar and clear air over uncertainty surrounding the alliance.

"In Delhi, we are going to discuss entire political scene. We have already announced candidates, and now it is for the high command to give us a go ahead to file candidatures," chief spokesman of state NCP unit Trojano D'Mello told PTI today.

D'Mello said party seniors in Delhi will have a last word on the issue.

On the other hand, local Congress leaders are optimistic that they will be able to convince NCP leaders to support them.

"NCP will support us. We want BJP to be defeated," Ravi Naik told reporters.

Besides Halarnkar of NCP, BJP's Sripad Naik and AAP's Dattaram Desai are also in the fray from the North Goa seat.

In South Goa, Narendra Sawaikar is BJP candidate against Lourenco of Congress and Alemao of NCP.
