EC withdrew Model Code of Conduct in Tamil Nadu with immediate effect

With the process of conducting election to 16th Lok Sabha coming to an end, the Model Code of Conduct in Tamil Nadu has been withdrawn with immediate effect, Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Kumar said today.

Following the issue of notification for constituting the 16th Lok Sabha, the model code of conduct enforced ahead of the election ceased to be in operation with immediate effect, he said in a statement here.

Tamil Nadu faced single phase voting on April 24 in 39 Lok Sabha constituencies.
