The stock market is already betting on a BJP victory in the Lok Sabha elections but global brokerage firms are painting various scenarios for investment. Of the four scenarios below, global bank BNP Paribas says the first and the second are stronger and milder versions of the same (a BJP government). Therefore, the beta rally picture in the scenario of a strong BJP victory will also apply in the case of a weak NDA victory. However, it says the magnitude of performance of various sectors could be slightly lower in the second scenario. A look at the stock selection advice under various post-election scenarios:
