 "Will try to strike balance between politics and acting: Ravi Kishan")
'Jaunpur Ka Beta' is not a new film of actor Ravi Kishan, who is contesting on a Congress ticket from here, but what the Bhojpuri superstar calls himself as he makes an attempt to regain this seat in which his party has not made a comeback since 1984.
And he admits he has a tough task on hand.
"Congress' hand is almost forgotten here... I have to tell people the importance of Congress, which had played a huge role in Independence of the country. That time we were not even capable of making a blade and now see where the country has reached, thanks to Congress. All this has to be told to the people," 42-year-old Kishan told PTI.
Quite stressed out with his dual role of acting and campaigning, the actor, who had also participated in TV reality show -- Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5, said, "It's quite hectic ... Nine of my films are on the floors... I am much stressed."
The sitting MP here is BSP's Dhananjay Singh, who has been charge-sheeted in connection with his maid's murder and is also an accused in a rape case.
The constituency, with a population of over 20 lakh, will go to polls on May 12.
Kamla Prasad Singh was the last winning Congress candidate from here in 1984.
Asserting that he was among the locals, he said, "First, my parents belong to Jaunpur and live in a village here. I am a son of Jaunpur. My father is a pujari, I will remain here with him."
Asked what would be his priority if he wins the elections, Kishan said he would try to live among the people and stress on developmental works. "I can't stay for 365 days but will bring some development projects. I will find 500 Ravi Kishans here and empower them to work on my behalf."
He also said he would continue doing films.
"I will not stop acting. I will try to strike a balance between politics and acting," he said.
