West Bengal Assembly polls: Money power was used, says state Congress chief
West Bengal Congress chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that there were many reasons for the defeat and the party would review them
Press Trust of India Kolkata West Bengal Congress chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Friday said he did not want to give any excuse for the defeat in the Assembly election but claimed that "money power had a role in this poll".
"A defeat is a defeat. I don't want to give any excuse for it. I don't want to go into any blame game. The people believed it is better to vote for Mamata Banerjee," he said.
Chowdhury said that there were many reasons for the defeat and "we have to find those out".
He, however, claimed, "In this election, money power has come to play a role. Earlier there were man and muscle power but this time money power was added."
