Two persons have been arrested for allegedly creating a fake website identical to the portal of a major PSU bank and cheating people by inviting them to get credit cards by paying for it, police said on Friday.

A police complaint was filed by the officials of State Bank of India at Netaji Subhash Place, alleging that someone had created a fake website in the name of www.SBICC.In, a senior police officer said.

The accused were misleading people in getting SBI credit cards and were charging money for it, he said.

"The accused had created a website identical to the one of SBI and cheated people by inviting them to get credit cards by paying for it. They have collected approximately Rs 40 lakh," the officer said, adding the accused had created fake Aadhaar card and other documents for committing cyber fraud.

Two of the accused, Sahil Verma and Monu, were arrested from Gurugram yesterday, he said.

Both the accused belong to Hansi in Haryana. There are three to four other persons involved in the fraud but they are still at large and efforts are being made to arrest them, he said.
