Andhra Bank, Kingfisher tie up to offer ATM ticketing

This kind of service is the first of its kind not only in India but also across the Southeast Asian region, according to Pravin Laghate, senior manager (commercial & sales development), Kingfisher Airlines Limited.
All one needs to do is to call up the airline's call centre informing them about the desired sector, date and time of travel. The caller, who needs to have either an Andhra Bank's ATM/debit card or a Visa card issued by any other institution in Southeast Asia, would then be given a booking reference number (BRN) along with the fare particulars.
He can then electronically pay for the ticket at any ATM of Andhra Bank by typing the BRN number and produce the receipt generated at the facility at the airport for the boarding pass or ticket.
"This is even more convenient compared with e-ticketing through internet as one can book his ticket without having an internet access and also while travelling," Laghate said.
The customer need not pay any additional charges for using the facility as the Kingfisher directly pays the bank for using the network.
K Ramakrishnan, chairman & managing director, Andhra Bank, suggested the airline to come out with some discount packages for the bank customers and publicise extensively about the facility through its channels.
The platform, powered by FSS, would help extend the service to other airlines as well.
