Non-life insurer SBI General Insurance on Wednesday announced the appointment of Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma as managing director and chief executive officer. He has been given a three-year term. He has 32 years’ experience. Earlier, he was the general manager at State Bank of India’s North Eastern Circle at Guwahati.
“Having spent the last couple of weeks at SBI General, I have realised that my predecessor R R Belle has not only laid a very strong foundation for taking this company forward, but also put together a team of motivated professionals who, I believe, can actually make this happen. I am sure with the standards already set, SBI General will move forward to realise its true potential,” Sarma said.
