Chhattisgarh CHOICE centre authorised for insurance services

All kinds of insurance and pension services would be provided through the centres

Nearly 2,468 centres of Chhattisgarh Online Information for Citizen Empowerment (CHOICE) in Chhattisgarh would now provide facility of online insurance to the people across the state.

Through these centres, all kinds of insurance and pension services would be provided. The CHOICE centres work under the Chhattisgarh InfoTech and Biotech Promotion Society (CHiPS).

The decision regarding equipping and authorising the centres to provide online insurance facility and pension related works was taken at the two-day workshop organised by CHiPS and E-Governance Services India Ltd of General Service Centre that started here today. In the workshop, more than 120 rural entrepreneurs from across the state had been participating. The CHiPS has been providing training to the CHOICE agents with the objective of facilitating insurance and pension services to people of rural areas in state. Trained agents would now be able to complete the entire process of online insurance in just three minutes. All kinds of motor vehicle and health related insurance facilities can be availed through rural CHOICE centres, the officials informed.

Till now, CHOICE centres had been providing all relevant certificates that the state government had been issuing. It included death, birth, caste, income, marriage, residential certificates besides ration card. The agents manning the centres have been provided necessary training for the same.

State government's information technology department secretary B Anand Babu said the CHOICE project had proved to be a milestone in the path of facilitating information technology in rural areas. He said as compared to other states, Chhattisgarh is progressing way faster in the field of information technology.
