At present, the bank has network of about 415 branches and over 1000 ATMs across India.
"We plan to open about 80 to 100 branches in the next year based on the potential we find. However, we are not in a rush to expand our network. We also have not drafted an action plan for the same. The expansion is a part of our organic growth," said Jagdish Capoor, chairman, HDFC Bank Ltd.
Being a leading private sector bank with advanced technology, HDFC Bank will not have any trouble in adding few more branches, added Capoor.
Capoor was in Anand on Friday to present his paper on 'Governance of the Co-operative Banking System' at the Silver Jubilee Symposium held by Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA).
Commenting on prevalent movement of mergers in the banking sector, Capoor said: "Our stand on this issue is very clear and known to the market. We do not want to go ahead with mergers and acquisitions just to enlarge our presence in the market. However, we will definitely go ahead in case we find the right candidate to take over."
During his visit kto India's premium rural management institute, Capoor expressed his interest in recruiting students from IRMA to employ for bank's supply chain management (SCM) services. However, Capoor ruled out any major steps for the bank's foray into the rural sector.
Capoor expressed his hope to maintain 30 per cent growth rate of bank's business in current fiscal too.
