The CSC set-up under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) is envisioned to facilitate a platform for government, private and social sector organisations to integrate social and commercial goals and take the benefits of information and communication tools (ICT) to the remotest corners of the country.
To encourage insurance penetration in rural areas, Irda had issued guidelines or utilising the CSC network in India in 2013.
Based on the guidelines the licence to CSC e-Governance Services India Limited (CSC SPV) was granted on Sept 12, 2013 by Irda to work as an authorised intermediary to market specifically approved insurance products and services through the Rural Authorised Persons (Village Level Entrepreneurs or VLE) under the CSC Scheme of National e-Governance Plan.
