Panel on health insurance rules

The Irda has constituted a committee to look into the health insurance framework to give a level-playing field to the industry, as well as rationalise various provisions. The committee consists of 11 members with representatives from Irda, life insurance and general insurance companies, academicians in the field of insurance and general insurance council. This committee will be headed by M Ramaprasad, member (non-life) at Irda.

They will bring out a report with their recommendations in the next eight weeks. They will examine areas including health insurance products, policyholder protection in health insurance, health insurance distribution, mergers and acquisitions in standalone health insurers, solvency and actuarial issues in health insurance and reinsurance as far as health insurance in concerned.
