UPSC Civil Services 2017 Exam: Official Notification & Dates Released

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has published the official notification for conducting the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2017.The UPSC civil services exams are conducted to fill vacancies in the highly coveted Indian Civil Services cadre such as IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS, Indian Postal Service, Indian P & T Accounts & Finance Service etc.,

For the current year, the expected number of vacancies to be filled through the exam is approximately 980 which include 27 vacancies reserved for P.H. Category, that is, 7 vacancies for LDCP, 08 Vacancies for B/LV and 12 Vacancies for H.I.

Dates :

• Starting Date for Submission of Online Application : 22.02.2017
• Last Date for Submission of UPSC recruitment Online Application : 17.03.2017
• Last Date for Submission of Application fee by Challan : 16.03.2017
• Prelims will be held on June 18 while the main exam is scheduled for October 10, 2017

Eligible Criteria:

• Educational Qualification : Candidate must a degree from any of the universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions.
• Age Limit : Minimum & Maximum age limit is 21 to 32 years as on 01.08.2017 (OBC candidates: 35 years
  SC/ST candidates: 37 years)

Selection Process : The Civil Services Examination will consist of two stages
(i) Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination (Objective type) for the selection of candidates for the Main Examination;

(ii) Civil Services (Main) Examination (Written and Interview) for the selection of candidates for the various Services and posts noted above.

Number of attempts: Every candidate appearing at the examination who is otherwise eligible, shall be permitted six attempts at the examination. Provided that this restriction on the number of attempts will not apply in the case of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates who are otherwise eligible.
