Railway ministers have traditionally tried to please their constituencies or home states while announcing new trains. While Gulbarga, Union Railways Minister Mallikarjun Kharge's constituency in Karnataka, got an inter-city express to Hyderabad, it is Maharashtra which got the lion's share of new trains (19/55) that would originate or terminate in the state, followed by Uttar Pradesh (14/55) and West Bengal (10/55)
