Egypt has accused the banned Muslim brotherhood of forming a military wing to attack security forces in the country.

The Brotherhood was officially declared a terrorist organisation in December last year.

According to news24, the interior ministry's spokesperson appeared on television to announce that the military unit had been discovered, and named 12 people who were its members.

He said the group had shot dead five policemen last month in the province of Beni Suef.
