The Pakistan government has filed a complaint in a special court with five charges for the trial of former President General Pervez Musharraf in the 'high treason' case.

Interior Secretary Shahid Khan submitted the complaint to the special court's Registrar against Musharraf for the offence of high treason under Article 6 of the constitution, read with section 3 of the high treason (Punishment Act 1973) and section 5 of the criminal law amendment (special court) Act, 1976, the Daily Times reports.

The government has charged Musharraf with abrogating, subverting, suspending, holding in abeyance and attempting to conspire against the 1973 Constitution by declaring emergency and overthrowing superior judiciary in November 2007.

The government also appealed the special court that Musharraf should be summoned for his trial, convicted and punished in accordance with law and the constitution, the report added.
