Amul, owned and marketed by Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), has been ranked as the numero uno dairy product in Asia Pacific region in a consumer survey carried out by Media Magazine published from Hong Kong and Singapore.

The survey has placed Amul ahead of Kraft, Dutch Lady, Dumex, Walls, Anchor, Magnolia, Everyday several other leading brands of Asia Pacific. The survey was conducted in Australia, China, India, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.

"Amul has also figured at 83rd slot in a list of top 1,000 brands of Asia-Pacific. The leading milk brand was ranked at 180 in 2008 survey", Amul said in a statement. Interestingly, there is no other ‘Indian’ brand in the list of top 1000 brands ahead of Amul. As per the rankings published for India market, out of the top five brands in India, four belong to multinational companies. Sony ranks numero uno followed by LG (2nd rank), Samsung(3rd rank), Amul (4th rank) and HP (5th rank).

The Indian consumers, too, have given Amul a top slot in the food and FMCG category.
