Chhattisgarh is keen on collaborating with Australian universities and vocational institutions to impart better higher education to its people.

The state government has been making efforts to join the youths with the mainstream of the modern technology. Chief Minister Raman Singh has expressed his willingness to tie up with the Australian universities and other higher education institutions to further strengthen the efforts of the state government.

"In the field of higher education especially mining technology, it will be a big leap forward for the nascent state like Chhattisgarh if the Australian institutions join hand with the state government," Singh said in a telephonic interview to an Australian radio. He said the state government would take necessary initiative in this regard.

The Chhattisgarh government is ready for an agreement with Australia, he said, adding that a knowledge park is proposed in the Naya Raipur-the upcoming capital city of the state. The state, after its formation in November 2000, had made a good progress in the field of education and the newly opened Indian Institute of Management (IIM) and Indian Institute of Information Technology.

Singh also showcased Chhattisgarh's salient features before the Australian broadcaster. "After the formation of the state in November 2000, Chhattisgarh has achieved many milestones in terms of growth and development," he said. It is one of the states where there is no power cut, he added.

The chief minister expressed hope that the state would solve the Naxal problem though he asserted that it was no way affecting the investors and state's growth.
