Kolkata-based Globsyn Business School (GBS) is planning to increase it national and global footprint.GBS plans to set up five new campuses within India and its first international campus within the next 3-4 years.
The company is looking at raising fresh equity from the market to fund its expansion plans. Speaking at a press conference to announce the academic collaboration with University of Evansville, Bikram Dasgupta, chairman and chief executive officer said, “We plan to set up five new residential campuses in India and one international campus within three-four years. By 2012-13, we hope to start at least three new campuses.”
The company was looking at raising $ 8-10 million fresh equity from the market to fund its expansion plans, he informed.
At present, GBS has two campuses in India, one in Kolkata and Ahmedabad, with 800 students across all courses. One of the five new campuses will be in Amtala in Kolkata.The company has invested close to Rs 17 crore in the Amtala campus, funded through internal accruals and debt. “Construction work is going to start shortly, land filling is done,” informed Dasgupta.
Hyderabad and Bhubaneswar has also been identified for the new campuses.Apart from these, cities like Chandigarh, Chennai and Bangalore are also being considered. Singapore and Malaysia are being considered for the international campus. GBS is looking at a total capacity of 4,600 students across all its seven campuses. GBS recently entered into a three-year academic collaboration with the University of Evansville for an executive MBA programmme as part of its global connect initiative.
The details of the course structure and fees are yet to be worked out. We want to make it as affordable as our other courses, informed Dasgupta. GBS is also looking at developing an integrated under-graduate programme for getting both an undergraduate degree and MBA all inclusive. The details were yet to be worked out, he added.
