KIIT School of Rural Management, a constituent of the city-based KIIT University, plans to roll out a one year Post Graduate Diploma Programme in Rural Management for working executives from the 2009-10 academic sessions.
“The proposed one year course in rural management will actually be a condensed version of our existing two-year full time MBA programme in rural management. The new course is being designed for professionals engaged in non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and also for executives handling corporate social responsibility in different organisations”, LK Vaswani, director of KIIT School of Management and KIIT School of Rural Management told Business Standard.
With an intake of 60 seats, the one-year PG Diploma programme in rural management will comprise nine months of academic input and the remaining three months of industry exposure.
The proposed programme is being introduced to cater to the needs of corporate managers working in rural areas. The new course will have most of the ingredients of the existing MBA programme in rural management and it will incorporate new areas of rural management depending on the requirements of the participants of the programme.
Besides its existing faculty in rural management KIIT School of Rural Management will also draw additional faculty from other institutes and the industry to add to its own core competencies in rural management.
Meanwhile, the placement process for the current year has kicked off in KIIT School of Management and five companies have already visited the B-school’s campus. “About 60 companies are expected to visit the KIIT School of Management this year as compared to 42 companies who visited our campus last year. This time, more companies form other sectors like manufacturing, FMCG and infrastructure are set to visit our campus”, said Vaswani.
