The All India Management Association (AIMA)-administered test for admissions to B-schools in India, the Management Aptitude Test (MAT), will go online from September. The online MAT will be conducted in addition to the regular MAT.

The online mode of the test will offer candidates a two-week window to take the test. Last year, AIMA had conducted a pilot project in seven cities. The dual mode was implemented in these cities. AIMA plans to outsource the test centres to colleges having the required technology and infrastructure.

“With the online mode, the cost of the test will rise, but whether this will be transferred to the candidates and by how much, is yet to be decided,” said V S Bejoy, director, Centre for Management Services, AIMA.

AIMA is also in talks with foreign universities to get MAT to be a part of their selection process. “We are approaching foreign universities of these countries to make MAT global. Infact, after these countries, the UK and US are on our radar as a large number of Indian students go to these places for studies,“ said Bejoy.

The management body is in talks with the respective embassies and educational councillers of these countries. “However, it is too early to say what these foreign universities will decide,” said Bejoy.
