Three IT firms make 3,934 placement offers at VIT

The average salary offered by them was Rs 3-3.6 lakh per annum

Accenture, Wipro and Cognizant Technology Solutions together issued 3,934 job offers to the students of Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) University on Thursday. These students would finish their courses in 2014. VIT officials claim this to be the highest recruitment on a single day so far from the campus.

Of the 3,934 job offers, 1,688 came from Accenture, while Wipro offered 1,162 jobs and Cognizant 1,084. The average salary offered by them was Rs 3-3.6 lakh per annum. Last year, 3,603 offers were issued by these three companies.

This year around 46 companies (including the three IT firms) have conducted campus interviews in VIT, from both its Vellore and Chennai campuses, and issued 463 internships and placement offers. DE Shaw, and e-commerce firms Flipkart and eBay have offered more than Rs 11 lakh per annum to the selected students and the highest salary offered so far this year was Rs 14 lakh per annum, said Samuel Rajkumar, deputy director of placement, VIT University.

Other companies, which have conducted campus recruitment include Deloitte, Musigma and Schneider Electric, TVS Motors, Caterpillar, Ericsson R&D along with Microsoft, Zoho, Intel, VmWare, Alcatel Lucent, Mahindra ComViva, Broadcom, Netapp, Cisco, Capital IQ, Texas Instruments, Google and Honeywell, according to the officials. Another 140-150 companies are expected to visit the campus for recruitment this year.
