9 stocks from BSE100 gain over 100% in two years

Ashok Leyland, Britannia Ind, Eicher Motors, HPCL, UPL, Marico, Aurobindo, Indiabulls Housing and Bosch gaining over 100% since May 16, 2014.

Nine stocks from the BSE100 index have seen their market value appreciate more than 100% in the past two years after Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Allliance (NDA) was voted to power in May 2014.

Ashok Leyland, Britannia Industries, Eicher Motors, Aurobindo Pharma, Indiabulls Housing, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL), Marico, UPL and Bosch have seen their market values more than doubled since May 16, 2014. The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) S&P BSE Sensex gained 6.4% from 24,122 to 25,653 on Monday.

The S&P BSE 100 index, which accounts nearly 70% of the total BSE market capitalization, was up 10% during the same period.

Foreign and local investors bought shares worth Rs 200,000 crore during the past two years. Mutual funds pumped in Rs 111,333 crore, while foreign portfolio investors were net investors worth Rs 86,092 crore ($14.4 billion) in equities.

Of these 100 stocks, 55 have outperformed the market by gaining more than 10% each. Of these 55, 28 stocks rallied more than 50% each. IndusInd Bank, Yes Bank, Maruti Suzuki India, Asian Paints, Cadila Healthcare, Godrej Consumer Products, Lupin, Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) and Bharat Forge appreciated between 65% and 95%.

Metal, public sector banks (PSBs), capital goods, oil & gas and telecom sector stocks are among major losers during the period.

Jindal Steel & Power, Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, Vedanta, Canara Bank, Steel Authority of India, Bharat Heavy Electricals, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation, NMDC and Union Bank of India have fallen over 40% each.

Reliance Group both Mukesh and Anil Ambani promoted companies such as Reliance Industries, Reliance Capital, Reliance Infrastructure, Reliance Power and Reliance Communications, down between 10%-60% on the BSE.
