The daily volume of all agri commodities futures would ususally hover around Rs 3,000 to Rs 3,500 crore a day. It has now come down to Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500 crore after the Centre took steps to curb spiralling prices of agri commodities to ease inflationary pressures, an NCDEX official said.
Volume of agri commodities futures at MCX have also taken a beating, coming down to Rs 300 to Rs 500 crore a day. Though agri commodities do not constitute a substantial chunk of the daily volumes at MCX, the figures still show a dip.
