The Hang Seng declined 200 points or 1% to 21,299. The Nikkei advanced 184 points or 2% to 10,016.
The Shanghai Composite was down 17 points at 2,894.
The Straits Times and Taiwan Weighted Index was up 25 points each at 2,676 and 7,599, respectively.
The Seoul Composite was marginally down at 1,640.

The Hang Seng is flat at 21,479, down 20 points and the Nikkei is quoting at 10,016, up 183 points or 1.8%,
Straits Times is at 2,667, higher by 15 points or 0.5% and the Taiwan is placed at 7,599, stronger by 27 points or 0.3%. But Seoul Composite is in the red at 1,639, down 6 points or 0.4%
Shanghai Composite is quoting flat at 2,918, up by 6 points or 0.2%.
