The shares of aviation companies such as Jet Airways, Kinghfisher Airlines and SpiceJet are in demand as domestic traffic grew 14.8% in May compared to the same period last year.
Domestic traffic crossed 540,000 in the month and the total number of passengers flown was 549,200. Jet Airways and Kingfisher Airlines carried more than one million passengers each in May, government data showed.
Jet Airways and its budget arm JetLite recorded market share of 26.1% for May, while Kingfisher came in second at 20%. Budget carrier SpiceJet had a market share of 14.2%, newspaper reports suggests.
Meanwhile, the number of passengers carried by domestic carriers in Jan-May rose 17.6% to 24.5 million.
Among individual stocks, SpiceJet has rallied 6% at Rs 28.70, Jet Airways has gained 4% at Rs 431 and Kinghfisher Airlines has added 3% at Rs 37 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
