To provide live updates of S&P BSE Sensex, the Bombay Stock Exchange has tied up with Twitter, which will give its investors live status, opening and closing figures of the market and stock prices, reported Economic Times.

This makes it the first collaboration in Asia between a stock exchange and a social networking site. BSE has been running a Twitter handle since 2012 but gives no real time updates and hence has comparatively less impact.

The Economic Times reported, BSE and Twitter admitted that this collaboration would democratise the financial information by enabling the millions of Indian investors to access the stock updates.

To help investors follow the market thoroughly, Twitter has activated four new features. They are, hourly tweets, autoresponder tweets for Sensex 30 stock prices, auto direct messages for opening and closing figures of Sensex 30, and a live display photo that will change every two minutes to project the Sensex figure, reported Economic Times.

BSE will, through its Twitter handle @BSE India, send hourly tweets of the Sensex figures, level, and company stock prices, during the trading hours (9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.).

To subscribe to a company's opening and closing details through direct messages users can tweet #subscribe #companyname or #unsubscribe #companyname to unsubscribe.

Ashish Kumar Chauhan, MD at BSE India, said "we believe this association will also aid in fulfilling the mission of digital India," he said.

Viral Jani, who looks after media partnerships for Twitter India, said, "We are thrilled to pioneer this initiative to make crucial information accessible at your fingertips in this fast-paced world."
