Cardamom surges on strong demand

Cardamom futures continued to rise in the domestic markets and gained Rs 4.30 to Rs 763.50 per kg in futures trade today on buying by traders amid firming spot market trend on strong demand for the ongoing marriage season.

Restricted arrivals in the spot market from producing regions also influenced the cardamom futures prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, April cardamom rose by Rs 4.30, or 0.56%, to Rs 763.50 per kg, with a business volume of 73 lots.

The February delivery also rose by Rs 3.60, or 0.52%, to Rs 686 per kg, with a trade volume of 1,178 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in March gained Rs 3.40, or 0.47%, to Rs 725 per kg, with a trade volume of 433 lots.
