1) Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Rajesh Agrawal and Manish Tuli, owners of Micromax Informatics on Wednesday while they were allegedly giving a bribe of Rs 30-lakh to engineers of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation for clearance to a banquet hall construction in Wazirpur. CBI has also arrested two junior officials of the municipal corporation besides conducting raids.


2) According to reports, Agrawal and Tuli had entered into a deal with engineers in exchange for a bribe of Rs 50-lakh and the two negotiated to bring down the amount Rs 30 lakh.

3) After a tip-off, CBI raided the Timarpur office of Agrawal and Tuli, where there were allegedly caught red-handed handing over the Rs 30-llakh as bribe to the civic agency officials.

7) Micromax is the 12th largest mobile brand in the World, according to Strategy Analytics’ Global Handset vendor market share report.


8) Rajesh Agarwal has also been instrumental in getting a lead investment of Rs 400 crore (around $83 million) from TA associates, Sequoia Capital and Sandstone Capital, which has brought the company international experience and exposure.


9) The company recently launched Canvas 4, the latest smartphone offering in the Indian market with a price tag of Rs 17,999. This is the company's highest priced product in the country and aims to be the flagship device for Micromax, replacing the earlier launched Canvas HD smartphone series.


10) According to a recent survey, India witnessed 9.4 million smartphones were shipped into the country – a 167.3% growth on an annual basis. Though Samsung Electronics retained the numero uno spot, Micromax and Karbonn occupied the number two and three slots.
