Chana prices drifted by Rs 25 to Rs 4,697 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators booked profits at existing higher levels amid subdued demand in the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in September moved down by Rs 25, or 0.53%, to Rs 4,697 per quintal, with an open interest of 56,940 lots.
October chana lost Rs 25, or 0.52%, to Rs 4,791 per quintal in 52,310 lots.
Marketmen said besides profit-booking by speculators at existing higher levels, improved rains in leading pulses cultivating states, which raised prospects of better crop in the coming season, led to the fall in chana futures.
