Chana prices fell by Rs 30 to Rs 2,438 per quintal in futures trade today on sluggish demand in the spot market amid increased arrivals from producing belts.
Arrival of new crop from Rajasthan and Maharashtra also put pressure on chana prices in futures trade. At the National Commodity Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in April fell by Rs 30, or 1.23 per cent, to Rs 2,438 per quintal, with an open interest of 97,650 lots.
Similarly, prices for delivery in June declined by Rs 29, or 1.13 per cent, to Rs 2,537 per quintal, with open interest of 45,520 lots.
The commodity for delivery in May shed Rs 27, or 1.07 per cent, to Rs 2,485 per quintal, with a trade volume of 68,280 lots.
Analysts said increased arrivals in the spot market against sluggish demand mainly led to the decline in chana futures prices.
