Chana prices rose in futures trade today, by Rs 11 to Rs 3,772 per quintal, as speculators created fresh positions, driven by tight supplies in the market against pick-up in demand.

At the National Commodity Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in May rose by Rs 11, or 0.29%, to Rs 3,772 per quintal, with an open interest of 91,550 lots.

The June contract traded higher by Rs 7, or 0.18%, to Rs 3,873 per quintal in 49,960 lots.

Analysts said besides fall in supplies from producing belts, pick up in demand at spot markets also led to rise in chana prices at futures market here.
