Copper down 0.1% on global cues, low demand

Metal for delivery in November traded lower by 0.04%

Amid a weak trend in the global market and subdued spot demand, copper prices fell marginally by 0.06% to Rs 462.05 per kg in futures trade today as speculators trimmed positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in far-month February shed 30 paise, or 0.06%, to Rs 462.05 per kg in business turnover of 36 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in November traded lower by 20 paise, or 0.04%, to Rs 451.95 per kg in 1,365 lots.

Analysts attributed the fall in copper futures to weak global cues as US lawmakers continued talks to avoid a breach of the nation's debt limit and subdued demand at domestic spot markets.

Globally, copper for delivery in three months fell 0.4% to $7,228 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
