Continuing its slide, copper prices fell further by 0.26% in futures trade today as speculators engaged in reducing their positions.
Subdued demand at the domestic spot market also put some pressure on the copper prices at futures trade.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in June fell by Rs 1.25, or 0.26% to Rs 404.25 per kg, with a business turnover of 11,253 lots. It had closed 1.5% lower at Rs 405.50 per kg in yesterday's trade.
The metal for delivery in August lost Rs 1.30, or 0.25% to Rs 409.70 per kg, with a trade volume of 752 lots.
Market analysts said a weak trend at the domestic spot markets due to sluggish demand from consuming industries and absence of any positive cue from global market mainly put pressure on the copper prices at futures trade.
