Edible oil prices rose further by up to Rs 100 per quintal in the wholesale oils and oilseeds market today on the back of buying by vanaspati millers amid firming trend at Malaysia. Linseed oil, in the non-edible section, also moved up on fresh enquiries from paint's industries.

Sentiments in edible oils turned better as palm oil advanced in global markets after exports from Malaysia gained in tandem with expectations that China and India, the two largest vegetable oil consumers, may start to rebuild inventories.

Meanwhile, palm oil for the August-delivery increased by 1.5% to $1,090 a metric tonne on the Malaysia Derivatives Exchange. Besides, sustained buying by vanaspati millers for the ongoing marriage season also pushed up the prices.

In the national capital, mustard expeller oil (Dadri) remained in demand and advanced by Rs 100 to Rs 5,550, while cottonseed and sesame mill delivery oils gained Rs 30 each to Rs 5,500 and Rs 6,230 per quintal, respectively.

Taking cues from overseas markets, soyabean refined mill delivery (Indore) and soyabean degum (Kandla) oils rose by Rs 50 each to Rs 6,250 and Rs 5,850, respectively, while crude palm oil (ex-kandla) traded higher by the same margin to Rs 5,350 per quintal.
