The stocks of companies engaged in mining business have risen between September 2004 to January 7, 2005, on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), with the demand for minerals and metals on the rise spurring exploration activity in the country.
 
Share price of Ashapura Minechem rose from Rs 136.30 on September 1, to today's close of Rs 171.90, up 26.11 per cent on the BSE.
 
During the same period the stock price of English Indian Clays increased from Rs 197.85 to Rs 272.00, up by 37.47 per cent.
 
Himadri Chemicals & Industries increased from Rs 6.20 to Rs 11.17. Sesa Goa gained from Rs 556.40 to Rs 983.30, up 68.45 per cent.
