Five top-10 firms added Rs 69,122 cr in market value last week

Five of the top-10 blue-chip Sensex companies added a combined Rs 69,122 crore in market capitalisation over the past week, led by IT giant TCS.

While TCS, Reliance Industries, Infosys, Hindustan Unilever and Wipro added value during the week ended August 30, ITC, ONGC, Coal India, HDFC Bank and Bharti Airtel together lost Rs 43,124 crore.

Mortgage lender HDFC moved out of the top-10 list, with IT major Wipro moving in.

TCS added Rs 38,176 crore during the week for a market capitalisation of Rs 3,95,975 crore, followed by Reliance Industries, which gained Rs 10,496 crore to Rs 2,75,012 crore.

Wipro's valuation surged Rs 8,765 crore to Rs 1,19,255 crore and Infosys added Rs 5,846 crore to Rs 1,78,030 crore.

The market cap of Hindustan Unilever jumped Rs 5,839 crore to Rs 1,35,922 crore.

In contrast, ONGC's market value dropped Rs 23,314 crore to Rs 2,13,288 crore, while Coal India slipped Rs 12,191 crore to Rs 1,58,224 crore.

Bharti Airtel lost Rs 4,017 crore to Rs 1,19,342 crore and HDFC Bank's value declined by Rs 3,285 crore to Rs 1,41,880 crore.

ITC's m-cap dipped Rs 317 crore to Rs 2,43,445 crore.

TCS topped the list of most valuable companies, followed by Reliance Industries, ITC, ONGC, Infosys, Coal India, HDFC Bank, Hindustan Unilever, Bharti and Wipro.

The benchmark 30-stock S&P BSE Sensex index closed the week at 18,619.72, up 0.54%.
