Fund managers' portfolios take cues from global markets

The portfolios of Smart Portfolios’ fund managers reflected the volatility in the markets.

As of December 8, Rikesh Parikh's net worth stands at Rs 980,000, down 2.03 per cent; Mehraboon Irani's is valued at Rs 872,000, down 12.79 per cent; Ashish Mittal's is Rs 960,000, down 4.01 per cent; Alex Mathews' is Rs 992,000, down 0.84 per cent and Ajay Parmar's totals Rs 993,000, down 0.74 per cent.

In the last week, Parikh made seven transactions, most of which were on the sell side. He purchased Oriental Bank of Commerce and Dena Bank.

He booked profits of 10 per cent on having exited from Jaiprakash Associates. He booked gains on having sold Coal India, too. On having exited from NTPC and Reliance Industries, he incurred losses of two and three per cent each.

His top five holdings are Dena Bank, Mcleod Russel India, Coal India, Deepak Fertilizers & Petrochemicals Corp and State Bank of India.

During the period under study, Irani made a total of 23 transactions. His purchases include Steel Authority of India, Ranbaxy Laboratories, Sun TV Network, Sterlite Industries and MRF.

He incurred losses on having let go of Ranbaxy Laboratories. On exiting Sterlite Industries, he incurred a loss of two per cent. A loss of five per cent was incurred on selling Sun TV Network. He booked a profit of two per cent on having exited from MRF and also booked marginal gains on having exited Steel Authority of India.

His top five holdings are Idea Cellular, Bharti Airtel, Ranbaxy Laboratories, Delta Corp and Godrej Industries.
