At 1:50PM, the 30-share Sensex was up 309 points at 27,971 and the 50-share Nifty was up 95 points at 8,456.
HDFC, ITC, ICICI Bank and Reilance Industries along with IT majors TCS and Infosys were the top Sensex gainers.
