Gains intact; Bharti, Jaiprakash weak

The NSE Nifty is up 79 points at 4,239.

BHEL has soared nearly 5% to Rs 1,580.

Tata Steel, Reliance Infrastructure, Wipro and ITC have surged around 4% each to Rs 623, Rs 895, Rs 388 and Rs 186, respectively.

Reliance Communications has rallied 3.5% to Rs 462. HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank have advanced around 3% each to Rs 1,117 and Rs 663, respectively.

Hindalco, Cipla and SBI have gained 2.7% each at Rs 147, Rs 233 and Rs 1,383, respectively.

TCS and ACC have added 2.5% each to Rs 834 and Rs 555, respectively.

HDFC, Grasim and Ranbaxy are up around 2% each at Rs 2,130, Rs 1,761 and Rs 467, respectively.

Maruti has plunged 8.5% to Rs 593. Tata Motors has tumnbled over 3.5% to Rs 405.

Jaiprakash Associates has shed 2% at Rs 163, and Bharti Airtel has declined 1.5% to Rs 786.

Out of 2,458 stocks traded, 1,718 have advanced, 659 have declined and 81 are unchanged.
