Govt mulls canalising maize exports

The official said the move is being considered to control exports and domestic prices. Despite a bumper crop, maize prices have risen by over 10 per cent in the last one month on high export demand. Government estimates this year's rabi maize output at a record high of 3.72 million tonnes.
