| Edible oils import during February is reported at 2,69,050 tonne compared with 3,93,713 tonne during the same period last year. |
| According to Solvent Extractors' Association (SEA): "In February 2006, the import of refined oil has decreased, when compared to the previous month. The correction in tariff value and widening the difference between crude palm oil (CPO) and refined, bleached and deodorised palmolein have encouraged the import of CPO. The ratio of import of refined and crude oil in November 2005- February 2006 is 6:94 compared to 13:87 of the same period of last year," SEA official added. |
| Palmoil products import during November 2005-February 2006 is reported at 6,09,492 tonne and the remaining is soft oil, that is 4,36,452 tonne. The ratio between palm oil and soft oil during the first four months of the current oil year has remained the same. |
| In February 2006, apart from soybean oil, a sizable quantity (21,595 tonne) of sunflower oil has arrived, mainly under tariff rate quota at 50 per cent duty. During the first four months, 72,344 tonne of sunflower oil has arrived as compared with 2,018 tonne during the same period last year. |
| The total import of non-edible oil during February 2006 is reported at 43,194 tonne as against 33,832 tonne in the same period last year. Total import for November 2005-February 2006 is reported at 1,90,514 tonne compared with 91,504 tonne. |
