Losses widens; TCS drops 4%

The NSE Nifty is down 82 points at 4,422.

Jaiprakash Associates has plunged 5% to Rs 168. TCS has tumbled 4% to Rs 850.

Maruti and Reliance Communications have shed 3.5% each to Rs 720 and Rs 507, respectively.

Cipla has dropped nearly 3% to Rs 211. Reliance, ITC and Ambuja Cements have slipped around 2.5% each to Rs 2,186, Rs 199 and Rs 87, respectively.

Wipro and SBI have declined nearly 2% each to Rs 479 and Rs 1,276, respectively.

Bharti Airtel, Reliance Infrastructure, Tata Motors, ACC and Satyam are the other major losers.

HDFC has surged 2.5% to Rs 2,295.

ONGC has rallied over 2% to Rs 872. NTPC has advanced over 1% to Rs 167.

The market breadth is fairly negative - out of 2,382 stocks traded so far, 1,689 have declined, 624 have advanced and 69 are unchanged.
