Market at day's low

After opening in the positive, the markets has slipped into the red and registered an intra day low of 20,242. The Sensex is currently down 29 points at 20,285 and the Nifty shed 11 points at 6,108. However, the smallcap index has managed to hold its gains and is up 0.2% as compared to the midcap index down 0.05% and the benchmark index in the negative at 0.1%.

Among the sectoral chart, Health Care, FMCG and PSU are the only indices in the green. Metal and Consumer Durables which opened at the top of the charts have slipped heavily and is now at the bottom, down 0.5%.

The gainers on the Sensex are Hindalco up nearly 2%, Tata Power, Cipla, Reliance  Communications and Bharti Airtel gaining nearly 1%. SBI, DLF, L&T and ITC are the other significant gainers.

Mahindra & Mahindra, Jaiprakash Associates,Tata Steel,NTPC and TCS shedding nearly 1% are the top losers on the Sensex.

The market breadth is positive. 1597 stocks have advanced while 916 have declined on the BSE.
