The markets continue its nothward movement with the Sensex registering a new high of 20,602, up 391 points from the day's low. The Nifty gained 114 points and is at 6,205. In the broader markets, the smallcap and the midcap index is up1% each as compared to the benchmark index outperforming at 1.8%
Among the sectoral indices, IT index leads the pack closely followed by Teck, FMCG and Realty.Power and Health Care continue to remain at the bottom.
Gainers (BSE): TCS, HDFC and Jaiprakash Associates up 4% are the top gainers followed by Hindustan Unilever, Wipro gaining 2% and DLF, L&T,Maruti Suzuki,Infosys,Hindalco and Mahindra & Mahindra adding 2% each.
Losers (BSE): NTPC down 0.8% continues to be the only loser on the Sensex.
Market breadth is extremely positive.1962 stocks have advanced while 1011 have declined.
