The Sensex is now down 319 points at 17,373 and the Nifty is down 98 points at 5,210.

After a period of relative calm, the benchmark indices are reeling under selling pressure once again. The Sensex is now down 239 points at 17,447 and the Nifty is down 76 points at 5,231. The mid-cap and small-cap indices are down about a percent and half at 7050 and 9101 respectively.
There are no sectoral gainers on the BSE now. The realty sector has plunged more than 3%; Jaiprakash Associates has weakened by 4% at Rs 145 and DLF has lost 3% at Rs 307. Among the non-BSE realty stocks, Indiabulls Real Estate has shed more than 7%, while Unitech and HDIL have shed between 3% and 4% each. And index heavyweight RIL is quoting at Rs 1026, down 3%.
Among the only Sensex stocks to buck the trend, SBI has strengthened by 1% at Rs 2240, ACC has gained 0.5% at Rs 907 and Hindustan Unilever has added 0.2% at Rs 241.
The market breadth has weakened further. There are now nearly three declining stocks behind one advancing one.
